七十年後的今日，Watershed Hong Kong將於墓園舉辦悼念儀式，吊唁守衛香港之烈士，紀念香港重光，提醒大眾毋忘歷史。
On 30 August 1945, the Royal British fleet commanded by Admiral Cecil Harcourt entered the Victoria Harbour, marking the resumption of British administration in Hong Kong. In the next year, the Hong Kong government declared 30 August a statutory holiday, the “Liberation Day”. After the transfer of sovereignty in 1997, however, the Liberation Day has been taken off from the list of statutory holiday, and its significance has become gradually forgotten.
As a matter of fact, in the eighteen-day Battle of Hong Kong, thousands of local and foreign soldiers and civilians sacrificed for Hong Kong. Known little to the public, many of these brave soldiers have their remains buried in the Sai Wan War Cemetery.
On the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation Day, Watershed will hold a commemoration ceremony at the Sai Wan War Cemetery, to pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed for Hong Kong, and to raise awareness of this remarkable moment of Hong Kong history.
Date: 30 August 2015
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Venue: Sai Wan War Cemetery
Note: This event is opened to public. Watershed will arrange shuttle bus service on the day. Please be attended to this page for further details.
